This sounds a lot like my grandmother, Suda Mae Bowling. She was also a dedicated cook, and produced the most amazing, immobilizing family meals. I called her Doo because she used to sing to me, “Doodley, doodley, doo”. She lived to be just short of 100 in spite of eating all the cholesterol, fat, sugar, and calories she could manage (without being overweight), and was alert and active to the last. She was living with my aunt who was planning a huge 100th birthday party for her and she told my father she didn’t want any kind of whoopty-do like that. He swore she died on purpose just so she wouldn’t have to have the party.

Thanks for sharing your story/Will’s story. This isn’t exactly the way Harry had explained it to me (Boys!) and I’m glad to know some of the details. Hi Lindy! I saw this on Facebook and had to come read some of your entries. I loved your “This I Believe” essay. Our oldest was born with a cleft palate and has had 3 surgeries so far. I am amazed by how resilient children are.

I’m looking forward to reading your new entries, so keep them coming! I have a photography blog, so I am right there with you. Mine is so behind it is pathetic. My new year’s resolution was to keep my blog up to date. The last entry was, um, January 1st. So much for my resolution…guess I should get to work on that.
