b-o-y-s

Spelling is a big thing in our house right now.  It’s not Adam and I spelling to keep the kids from knowing what we’re saying, it’s Will.  He loves to spell.  If I say, “What does p-o-p spell?”  He says “POP!”  He also knows cat, dog, hat and all of our names.  He’s not afraid to try spelling just about anything.  He’s almost always wrong, but he’s not afraid to try.  Recently he said, “t-i-t, cat!”  Well, not exactly.  Speaking of… Aaron was with me shopping for “unmentionables” in Target the other day.  Apparently, he had no problem mentioning them.  He kept saying very loudly, over and over, “underpants!”  ”Yes, these are underpants,” I kept saying.  Meanwhile, I’m engrossed in finding the right size and style and color, etc. and he says, “Here, mommy!”  I look up to see that he has selected a giant, white padded bra and is waving it around in the air.  People are staring and quietly grateful it’s not their 3 year-old brandishing the giant bra.  And then there’s Levi, who now refuses to take a bottle of any kind and has been fittingly dubbed, “The boob man.”  Boys!

So much

So much has happened since my last post. Here are the major points:

Between the 21st and the 24th, Adam did a wedding, a funeral, a worship service and 2 Christmas Eve services. There were rehearsals for everything except the funeral.

Also on the 24th, I spent the entire day in the E.R. with Will because he was sick. When I got home from the E.R. with Will at 4pm, I started feeding Levi and he threw up all over me.

On Christmas day, Will spent the entire day in bed and at 11:30 at night Adam took him back to the E.R. in Orlando and he was admitted for two days. They came back home on the 27th.

On the 28th, I went to the doctor and found out I have a torn meniscus and a fractured tibia, a knee injury from ice skating Thanksgiving weekend. It had been 5 weeks, so no cast or crutches, whew!

On the 2nd of January, I found out I need surgery for the torn meniscus.Sounds disastrous doesn’t it?

Well, not so much. Here’s why:

On the 24th, my friend and neighbor Connie was at my house and helping with Levi and Aaron. She was here for me when Levi got sick to top off a really bad day with Will in the E.R.

On the 25th, our friend James drove Will and Adam to Orlando so I could keep the car and Adam could care for Will on the hour-long trip. He stayed with them for a few hours until they were settled.

On the 26th, my sister and brother-in-law, Shannan and Ed, showed up and brought food, entertainment and love for our forlorn family.  Earlier that day, our friends Brad and Jennifer kept Aaron so I could recover from the previous 48 hours.

And, starting on the 25th and continuing for 12 days, we received gifts and sometimes entertainment from the Worship team at church. We had pipers piping in our living room, ladies dancing on our back porch, and lords leaping on our front lawn. With all these visits were generous gifts from our dear friends.

The circumstances of the last month have not been the best, but our friends and family have been. We are very blessed. I wouldn’t trade my life for anyone’s.
